Copper Seaweed Necklace

£ 44.99 tax incl.

This is a stunning necklace which is made with a real piece of irish moss seaweed.

It has been electroformed in copper and is a statement piece hung from a 16" light brown rubber cord with sterling silver lobster claw clasp.  Seaweed is very hard to electroform as it contains so much water.  The seaweed was collected on the banks of Loch Long in the Highlands of Scotland. The seaweed is approximately 3" long.

More info

Electroforming is a process of growing copper around an item.  It is an electrochemical procedure which can produce stunning effects, where no two pieces will ever turn out the same. Each item starts life as a real, living object it them goes through a process of sealing and making it conductive and then finally encasing it in copper.  Electroforming takes several days and is a delicate, skilled process, the beauty of electroforming can have a certain mind of it's own if allowed so it makes for really unique pieces of work.

The piece is large - approximately 3 inches in length and will no doubt be a real conversation piece! The piece itself has its bail at the top of the piece so it can be hung from a chain or a choker,  if you would like the pendant hung from a pure copper choker (15") then please get in touch.

All our items are truly unique as you never find two pieces alike!
